Healthy Lifestyle

The 6 Healthy Habits

We all hear about living a “Healthy Lifestyle”, but what is that really? It seems like an overwhelming chore if you look at the big picture…you need to exercise, eat right, get good sleep, remove stress from your life, focus on your mind, tend to all your relationships and more.

How are we to accomplish all these things in the busy life we all lead these days? There are all kinds of phone apps, computer programs, TV and magazine advertisements claiming they can help us achieve ultimate health, wealth and relationship euphoria. If you are like me, you have probably tried many of these, looking for the magic recipe, only to get burned out on adding one more thing to your to-do list.

Small habits lead to BIG changes

Right now I am talking about habits to help you succeed in achieving optimal health, but you can use this thought process to reach any goal!

If you break down your goal into small pieces, microhabits, you will see how easy it is to achieve. Don’t panic, you don’t have to do everything at once…take small steps at your own pace. One change a week allows you to focus on it and become use to doing it before adding another habit. You are more likely to continue small, consistent changes instead of jumping in and trying to do everything at once.

The 6 most important microhabits for a healthy life...healthy weight, healthy eating and hydration, healthy motion and exercise, restful sleep, healthy mind and healthy surroundings and relationships.

HYDRATION

The easiest for me was getting more and better HYDRATION. We’ve all heard we need to drink eight glasses of water a day but that always seemed so boring. However, now that I have been drinking over 100 ounces of water a day, I like it and my body expects it. Yeah, I was running to the bathroom frequently but that seems to level out after a while. And, the benefits of good hydration are well worth it!
